Robert Lange Studios is honored to welcome Larisa Brechun to its celebrated roster of contemporary painters with a small body of paintings for her debut, Welcome Home: Larisa Brechun, on view through December and part of January 2026.
There are moments in the life of a gallery when an artist arrives whose work feels so perfectly aligned with its spirit that it’s almost as if they’ve been there all along. Larisa Brechun is one of those rare artists. Her arrival marks not only a new collaboration but a heartfelt continuation of the gallery’s devotion to authenticity, beauty, and the quiet strength of painting.
Residing in a small town north of San Antonio, Texas, Brechun has cultivated a deeply introspective approach to figurative oil painting. Her works explore mood, atmosphere, and the fragile balance between solitude and connection. Through nuanced brushwork and the poetic use of light and texture, she invites viewers into moments of stillness — scenes that feel both personal and universal.

“Larisa’s paintings carry a stillness that feels sacred,” says gallery owner Robert Lange. “When Megan and I first saw her work, we were immediately taken by its emotional honesty. We even brought one home from our Twentieth Anniversary show. Of all the figurative work in our collection, hers is the painting I linger on when I’m looking for inspiration.”

Brechun studied at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has been painting for over fourteen years. Quiet by nature, she creates from her home studio surrounded by her dogs and cats. “I don’t really enjoy being the center of attention or talking about myself much,” she says. “My goal has never been to be popular or a ‘big’ artist. I just want to make paintings that make me happy — and it’s been wonderful to see that they resonate with others, too.”
Welcome Home: Larisa Brechun will feature a small body of new paintings that reveal Brechun’s mastery of atmosphere, emotion, and illumination. Her work speaks softly yet powerfully, reminding us of the beauty that exists in quiet moments — and the joy of finding one’s place.
