Robert Lange Studios is pleased to present Interlace, a group exhibition featuring female painters whose work explores the language of fabric as both subject and symbol. Through figurative scenes, still lifes, and silk creations, textiles become vessels for memory, identity, tradition, and personal narrative. The resulting exhibition is richly layered and deeply intimate, with each artist contributing a singular voice to a larger, interconnected dialogue.

Throughout the exhibition, fabric serves as more than a decorative element. Draped across shoulders, folded within still lifes, stitched into family histories, or passed down through generations, textiles become quiet storytellers. The works on view examine the ways objects absorb meaning over time, carrying traces of those who have touched, worn, mended, and cherished them.
The title Interlace speaks not only to the physical weaving of threads but also to the connections between experience, memory, and identity. Though each artist approaches the theme from a unique perspective, together the works reveal the intricate ways our lives become entwined with the objects that surround us.
"Fabric holds an incredible emotional weight," says artist June Stratton. "A favorite dress, a handmade quilt, a worn tablecloth are all objects that quietly witness our lives. In many ways, they become stand-ins for the people and memories we hold closest. This exhibition explores those connections and the stories woven into the materials we often take for granted."

Gallery owner Robert Lange sees the exhibition as a celebration of both craftsmanship and storytelling.
"One of the things I admire most about these artists is their ability to transform everyday objects into something deeply meaningful," says Lange. "A piece of fabric can speak about family, history, place, culture, or identity without a single word. What emerges in Interlace is a conversation between artists who use paint to preserve memory, honor tradition, and tell stories that feel both personal and universal."
Interlace opens in September 2026, with a current opening night scheduled for September 4, 5-8pm at Robert Lange Studios and will feature a collection of new works by contemporary female painters whose practices embrace the poetic possibilities of cloth, pattern, and adornment. Featured artists in Interlace include Denise Stewart-Sanabria, Michelle Jader, Leeah Joo, Cindy Rizza, Diane Davich-Craig, Robyn Asquini, Jessica Gordon, June Stratton, Sara Scribner, Anne Marie Kornachuk, Kerry Simmons, Laura Prichett, Ali Cavanaugh, Mary Edna Fraser, Kirsten Hoving and Mae Read, each bringing a unique perspective to the exhibition's exploration of fabric, memory, identity, and personal narrative.
