Every summer we disappear for a little while.
Not because we're tired of painting. Not because we're tired of the gallery. Quite the opposite.
For us, our annual trip to Maine has become an essential part of the creative rhythm of the year. It's a chance to slow down, spend uninterrupted time with family, wander rocky shorelines, hike through pine forests, read more books than emails, and simply pay attention again. We always return reminded that some of the best ideas don't arrive while you're chasing them—they show up when you finally give them room to breathe.

Every year we come back with sketchbooks full of ideas, notebooks filled with exhibition plans, and a renewed excitement for the months ahead. We spend countless hours talking about future paintings, dreaming up new gallery experiences, and asking ourselves the same question we've been asking for over twenty years:
"How can we make this place even more magical?"
While we were away this year, something else was quietly happening back home.
For the first time in generations, the historic brick at Robert Lange Studios has been undergoing extensive repointing. Watching nearly two centuries of history receive the care it deserves feels oddly symbolic. Just as our old building is being strengthened for the future, we, too, have returned feeling restored and ready for what's next.
The timing couldn't be better.

We're incredibly excited to unveil Brett Scheifflee's newest collection, Our Old Friend Autumn. Brett has a remarkable ability to capture those quiet moments in nature that seem to slow time itself. His newest paintings continue that tradition, inviting viewers into peaceful landscapes filled with warmth, memory, and reflection. It's a body of work that feels especially fitting as we transition from the energy of summer into the richness of fall. And just beyond that is one of the exhibitions we've been looking forward to all year.
Interlace brings together an exceptional group of female painters who use fabric not simply as an object, but as a storyteller. Threads become memories. Quilts become family histories. Clothing becomes identity. Each artist approaches the theme in a completely unique way, yet together the exhibition creates a beautiful conversation about connection, tradition, and the lives we weave together.
As much as we love our time in Maine, there's something special about picking up a paint brush after the drive home. Seeing the gallery again. Hearing the old wooden floors creak beneath our feet.
Thank you for allowing us the space each year to step away, recharge, and return with fresh energy. Your support makes it possible for us to keep dreaming bigger, painting harder, and creating a gallery that feels alive with new ideas.
