INTERVIEW with the artist:

The show title is :
Nomadica
"From the early age I was always going from one place to the other. From my homeland in the south of Russia to St. Petersburg up north. Then to the US in my late teens. The nomadic life style has definitely seeped into me and my work. My subject matter changes as does my style.  I’m looking forward being a nomad in my life and my art until the end."
Talk about the forests.
"The forest series started as a very decorative idea.  It has developed itself into a dreamscape, a world where one can experience beauty in the most vivid way.  Having been through very extreme times as a child I always tried to find an escape in the beauty of this planet. One of those moments was capturing the post-sunset light from my former home in the country. The barks of the trees caught enough of blue evening light, and the glow of the disappearing sun rays was so luminous that it created this amazing effect of blue trees. To say the least, it was very special. I rarely  see this effect these days. However, it was not enough for me. I love color.  I experimented to see what would happen if I would intensify everything. That is how this series of  paintings was born.  To this day I’m still being challenged by the beauty of nature."
What are you currently discovering in your painting process?
"I use to be very meticulous in my work. Almost every detail was described, no stone unturned. These days I’m discovering about myself that I really enjoy looking out for much larger color combinations and rhythmical aspects in my paintings."
Why are you a painter?
"I grew up around artists. All of my parents are artists. As a child I never thought that painting was something I could not do. I was always interested in it.  I believe that we cannot chose art; it’s the art that choses us."
Or any other quotes that you want to share?
"The world is going through a very strange time right now. Lots of dark times for a lot of people. I was discussing it with one of my best friends the other day. The interesting conclusion we have ended up with is this. That as artists/painters in the time of hate and darkness we have to burn brighter brighter with love and positivity. Otherwise what would be the point of living if one does not know what love is."
