This summer, a new exhibit is sprouting up at our gallery, and it’s not your typical floral affair. From the Garden invites viewers to step beyond the neat rows of petunias and perfectly arranged still lifes and into a wilder, more imaginative world where the garden becomes a setting for the unexpected.
The exhibit gathers a diverse group of painters, each tasked with creating garden-themed works — but with a twist. Yes, you’ll find traditional paintings of delicate blooms and lush vegetable still lifes, but you’ll also encounter pieces that stretch the boundaries of what “garden art” can be.

Expect to see portraits of the creatures who quietly inhabit our gardens: the fox in the shade, the moth at twilight, the cat curled beneath a tomato plant. Figurative works set among tangled vines and sun-drenched orchards capture private moments of reflection, mischief, and melancholy. Some artists have turned the garden into a metaphor, exploring themes of growth, decay, secrecy, and sanctuary.

This mix of classic and unconventional interpretations makes From the Garden a refreshing take on a well-loved subject. It’s a reminder that gardens, like art, are spaces of both order and surprise — places where beauty can be cultivated, but also where the unexpected takes root.
