“Becoming” considers the quiet atmospheres that change us. The familiar blanket across the back of a welcoming chair, the curtains illuminated by the western light of a clear evening, the soft turtleneck you’ve been waiting for autumn to call out of storage. There is something about being alone with a book, suspended in light, that feels both intimate and expansive, a moment when the outside world falls away and another opens within you. Gestural brushstrokes move across this young girl’s heart, suggesting the inner shift that accompanies curiosity, imagination, and discovery. Becoming happens quietly, powerfully, in spaces like these.
