Supporting Public Works Art Center at Beeple Studios

Posted by Robert Lange on

Tonight, our gallery is honored to support Public Works Art Center in Summerville, which is the only center of it's caliber in the region, and its incredible Executive Director, Jana Riley, at a very special event hosted at Beeple Studios. This evening is a celebration of generosity, creativity, and the power of art to strengthen community—and we’re proud to be a part of it.

Public Works Art Center has become a vital creative hub in Summerville, offering access to the arts through exhibitions, education, and community programming. Under Jana Riley’s leadership, the organization continues to grow its reach and impact, creating meaningful opportunities for artists and audiences alike. Jana’s passion, vision, and tireless advocacy for the arts make her a true force in our region, and tonight’s event is a testament to the community she has helped build.

The setting for this fundraiser makes the night even more special. Beeple, one of the most influential contemporary artists working today, is best known for redefining what digital art can be. His groundbreaking work—most notably his “Everydays” project and record-breaking NFT sales—has had a global impact, pushing art conversations into new territory and bringing digital creativity into the mainstream. Last week at Basil he again started a great conversation about what art is today with a series of robot dogs that I can't describe and you'll just have to google.

What makes Beeple’s involvement especially meaningful is his commitment to supporting the arts locally here in Charleston. By generously donating his studio space for events like this one, Beeple continues to invest in the creative community that surrounds him, creating room—both literally and figuratively—for artists and organizations to thrive.

This evening’s silent auction features significant contributions from Robert Lange, Nathan Durfee, and Megan Aline, each of whom donated large-scale works to help raise funds for Public Works Art Center. Their generosity speaks to the deep sense of camaraderie and shared purpose within our local art scene.

Adding to the energy of the night, Nathan Durfee will be painting live at the event, alongside 40 other local artists, transforming the studio into a vibrant, living exhibition. Watching artists create in real time is a powerful reminder of why spaces like Public Works Art Center matter—they give creativity a place to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

We are grateful to stand alongside so many artists, patrons, and supporters this evening. Events like this remind us that when the art community comes together, real impact happens. Tonight is about more than fundraising—it’s about connection, generosity, and believing in the future of the arts in our region.
